ABOUT AMSR2 NRT DATA

The LANCE element for Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2 (AMSR2) is co-located with the AMSR Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS) and the Global Hydrology Resource Center (GHRC) DAAC in Huntsville, Alabama.

NRT AMSR2 products are generated within three hours of observation, using algorithms provided by the NASA-funded US AMSR2 Science Team, with JAXA NRT L1R (resampled brightness temperatures) as input. While the NRT data stream from JAXA has a much lower latency than the corresponding standard data, it occasionally experiences some data loss.

NASA standard products, generated using validated versions of these algorithms, are available from NSIDC DAAC.

Remote Sensing Systems (RSS) generates an extensive suite of intercalibrated products (columnar water vapor and cloud liquid water over oceans, ocean wind speed, sea surface temperature) from many passive microwave satellite instruments. Their AMSR2 ocean products are available here: http://www.remss.com/missions/amsr/
